Use A Protein Shaker To Quickly Whip Up Scrambled Eggs

Aug 04, 2023Aug 04, 2023

Eggs are one of those miraculous foods that take countless forms, provide a complete nutrient profile, and adapt to any cooking method. Scrambled eggs are a popular egg dish because it's one of the easiest, tastiest, and fastest way to prepare them; it takes mere minutes to whip up a fluffy batch of scrambled eggs on the stove over medium heat. Despite its quick assembly, the preparation process can be streamlined even further by using a protein shaker to scramble raw eggs.

Instead of reaching for a bowl and whisk to beat eggs, save time by giving them a vigorous shake in a protein shaker. A protein shaker, like a cocktail shaker, is a multifaceted tool that serves as an all-in-one emulsifier, aerator, and integrator. When eggs are shaken inside a protein shaker, it uses much more force with less effort than hand beating them.

The enclosed container blends the yolk and egg more thoroughly in a shorter amount of time, while also doing a better job integrating any added seasonings. Plus, air bubbles pervade the scramble during shaking, so the scrambled eggs won't lack fluffiness.

This hack is perfect for students or individuals with limited kitchen supplies and no desire to constantly wash their only fork or bowl multiple times during the cooking process. Shake up eggs for breakfast, wash out the shaker, then pack it with powder and milk for a mid-morning boost.

Believe it or not, shaking eggs is a longstanding practice; households during the '50s and '60s were known to employ their cocktail shakers to mix eggs for breakfast, then use the same shakers for martinis at night. If you don't have a plastic protein shaker, you could use a metal cocktail shaker, a plastic water bottle, or even a glass mason jar; as long as it's a container with a cap, it should work.

To shake scrambled eggs, simply crack a few eggs into your protein shaker, add seasonings, close the cap, and shake for 15 to 30 seconds, or until you get a uniform color and consistency. Then, remove the cap and pour the scramble out of the shaker onto a skillet over medium heat.

If looking want to make extra fluffy scrambled eggs, add a splash of milk or cream to the shaker with the raw eggs. You could also add chopped veggies, slices of ham, and shredded cheese to the shaker if looking for a more elaborate scramble. Beyond making scrambled eggs, protein shakers can be used to blend eggs into sauces and dressings, or to create egg-white foam.
